Karen gets mad because I won’t serve her because of her fake service dog.

And because my old dog Bella(RIP), was a service dog for my mom, I read up on the ADA laws and I can immediately tell what animals are service animals, and what are just pets.

Font - When it comes to fake service animals, I'm not nice. Especially when people try to argue with me about it after. Today, a lady came in, her dog wrapped up in a blanket in her arms. I immediately knew it wasn't a service dog.

Font - Me:"Excuse me, ma'am. But we only allows service dogs." Karen:"She is a service dog." Me:"Then what tasks does she perform?" Karen:"Emotional support." Well, emotional support animals aren't protected by the ADA, therefore, they aren't considered service animals.

Font - Me:"I'm sorry, ma'am. But emotional support animals are not protected by the ADA and aren't considered service animals. I can't serve you." She started to scream at me, threatening to sue me and call the cops. My response was:"For what? Refusing service to a woman who is faking a service animal? Which, by the way, is a civil penalty fine up to $250 each time in (state)? Go ahead, call the cops. I'll be here."

Font - She went silent after that and just left. Thank god. PSA, do NOT bring your untrained pets into a non pet friendly store! And especially do not fake a service animal! You make it harder for the people who actually need them! Edit: changed mutts to untrained pets. Sorry about that.

Font - TheWeebQueen17 OP · 2d I love it when people try to show me papers. Because then I can just look at them and go,"Papers for service animals don't exist." It's funny to see them try to tell me they do when they, in fact, don't. s 仓 220 3 Boudicca- • 2d There have been Company Websites popping up Offering Physician's Letters & Certificates for ESA's now too and while ESA's are Protected to a Certain Degree under ADA Law, (Fair Housing Act, etc).. Font - fishnetdiver • 2d I worked front desk at a hotel that allowed service animals. We had a guest checked in with a small poodle claiming it was a service dog. Well next day after she checked out housekeeping found a nice brown 'present' left in the hall so we checked the security tapes to verify that it was her dog so we could charge her. What we saw was freaking hilarious. She had closed our bar down and was stumbling down the hall, dog following. She then proceeded to to pass out in the ha

Font - TheChadTheP1 • 2d My entitled sister received a formal, certified letter from our family physician (who has known her for over two decades) stating that she was no longer a patient at their facility because of her abusive language and behavior towards their staff. The reason? Her teacup yorkie (which is more of an accessory than a pet) was not allowed inside the doctor's office for health reasons because it isn't a service dog. It's an emotional support animal. She even got bullshit paper

Font - ChaosKing1081 · 2d As a former manager at Save a Lot I salute you. I had a lady that would bring her little ankle biter in with her. The first couple times I let it go. But then the dog started snapping at other customers when they'd get to close. So when I told her that she couldn't bring the dog in, she started going on and on about it being her emotional support dog. I tried to point out to our store manager how we could be held liable if the dog bit somebody. But he just caved in sinc

Font - iesharael • 2d Ugh I hate people like your sister. There are real ESAS that serve actual function. However they should have basic training and the prescription letter (forget what it's called) has to come from a trained professional. Also ESAS have rights for things like housing and hotel stays. Not EVERY business. I plan to write up a letter I can hand managers of places to ask if I my ESA will be allowed. Including picture of training certificates. I won't just spring her on people! How

Font - accio-snitch • 2d Even if they claim service animal and lie about what it is trained for, you can legally kick one out of it is barking, walking around everywhere, etc (being a nuisance, basically). Then you know it's not a service dog anyway. PS I mean barking that's not "alerting" of an emergency, just to bark G Reply & 19 ... LadyRunic · 2d Or be abnoxiously, 'are they alerting? Are you okay? Font - votedog · 2d A woman had her dog with her recently in the grocery store. It was not wearing anything to indicate it was a service dog. I asked if I could pet it and as soon as l started to speak, the dog growled at me. I knew right away it was not a service dog. The dogs hackles went up and I started backing away. I told her to take her dangerous dog out of the store and she insisted it was a service dog. A man came into the row and the dog started to bark at him. He backed away as well b

Font - maireadbhynes · 2d Please help...what is the name of the film where the lawyer has a service dog for his seizures and then he seizes in court? Was it a Baldwin brother as the kawyer? A gorgeous collie dog I think? Came to mind reading this thread and I can't remember the film. The lawyer got sneered for bringing his dog to court and then they witnessed it notifing him of a seizure warning by the end.
